Purpose (mission): Creating internationally competitive intellectual potential for the development of Latvia, its regions, on the basis of outstanding research, the use of its results in the national economy, high quality of studies and efficient management of the university.

The university’s mission includes four top-level objectives: 1) achieving excellence in research specialisation areas, 2) facilitating fundamental and applicable research, as well as the application of research results in the national economy, 3) providing high-quality study and education services, and 4) ensuring efficient management of the university.

International cooperation: In the study year 2020/2021 the University has 46 existing cooperation agreements and is running 60 scientific and educational projects.

Number: In the study year 2020/2021 the number of academic staff amounts to 488. The total number of students – 4149, of which 304 (7,33 %) are foreign students.

Directions of curricula

The LLU provides higher education and lifelong learning in the fields of science and the areas of the economy in which it has acquired education and research expertise. Special attention shall be paid to the development and extension of the supply range of study programmes which prepare specialists for prospective bioeconomy sectors included in the Latvian Smart Specialisation Strategy, and shall be: agriculture, forestry, veterinary medicine, wood-processing, biomaterial-based construction, energy based on the use of renewable resources, water purification and distribution, management of water and land resources, nature tourism, food industry and biochemistry, information and communication technologies.

Main fields of research are grouped in 3 thematic blocks:

  • BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES: Agriculture, Forestry science, Veterinary medicine, Food hygiene, Food science.
  • ENGINEERING SCIENCES: Information technologies, Remote sensing, Robotics, Food technology, Wood materials and technologies, Sustainable energy technologies and systems, Sustainable building, Civil engineering, Technologies for management of natural resources.
  • SOCIAL SCIENCES: Economics, Sociology, Regional development, Business management, Hotel and restaurant management.

Purpose (mission): Hilfswerk International (HWI) is one of Austria’s leading non-profit, non-party, and cross-denominational organizations with its headquarters in Vienna, Austria. It provides both long-term international development assistance and humanitarian aid. Its strategic focus is on long-term capacity development of local organizations and vulnerable population sectors, i.e., women, children, youth, and ethnic minorities, in terms of organizational and institutional development. Our mission is to combat poverty and hardship in developing countries through promotion of economic and social development intended to lead to a process of sustained economic management and growth, linked to structural and social change.

International cooperation: currently 50 international projects with numerous international (European Commission, FAO, UNDP, Medicor, OFID, LED, ADC, UNHCR, USAID, DFID, etc.) and national partners from 25 countries.

The Agribusiness Association of Uzbekistan is a voluntary non-governmental non-profit organization based on the principles of equality, free will and common interests of its members.
