During the period from 9 to 18 June 2021, universities of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan had joint workshops with their European partners:  Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, University of Agriculture in Krakow and Linneus University in Sweden. The aim of the workshops was to specify curricula and study subjects to be modernised in the involved central Asia universities.

Partners discussed and agreed to modernise the following curricula:

  • Samarkand branch of Tashkent State University of Economics – Agribusiness and Investment – 10 subjects;
  • Kyrgyz National Agrarian University – 3 curricula: Agronomy, Zootechnics and Technology of production and processing of agricultural products – 16 subjects in total;

During the workshops the teaching staff discussed the content of curricula, study subjects and their volumes,  division of study activities, necessary materials and resources and pedagogic methods to be used for the effective realisation of the study process. The thematic breakdown of study subjects was clarified, taking into account the findings and recommendations of the analysis, recently completed within the project, and recommendations received from the agrobusiness entrepreneurs, who took part in the national level seminars, held in April this year.

While elaboration of the new content, teachers at European universities will cooperate closely with the academic staff of Central Asia universities. Such approach will ensure effective process and correspondence of new content to the needs of involved Central Asia higher education institutions. As a result, the Kyrgyzstan’s and Uzbekistan’s agrobusiness enterprises will have greater chance to find and employ professionals having knowledge, skills and expertise letting companies to develop sustainable and environmentally friendly business.
